Breville Oracle Troubleshooting Hub
The Breville Oracle (BES980XL) and Oracle Touch (BES990BSS) are dual-boiler machines — a brew boiler and steam boiler operating independently, each with its own PID controller. This architecture delivers consistent brew temperature that single-boiler machines cannot match, but introduces failure modes specific to the dual-boiler design. Most Oracle issues affect only one boiler, which makes diagnosis more straightforward than it might appear.

Key Oracle Difference from Barista Express
The Oracle uses a 58mm portafilter (commercial standard) vs. the Barista Express's 54mm. The Oracle gasket is also different in ID and thickness — 58×47×9mm vs. the Gaggia Classic Pro's 58×49×8.5mm. These are not interchangeable despite the same outer diameter. Always confirm all three dimensions when ordering replacement gaskets.
