Keurig K-Mini: Not Brewing

The machine detects water level via a pressure sensor at the bottom of the reservoir cavity, not a float — if water is poured too quickly, the sensor may not register immediately.
  2. Verify the travel mug setting (K-Mini Plus only). The K-Mini Plus has a "Travel Mug" mode that raises the drip tray position for tall mugs. When this mode is active and a standard mug is placed on the standard tray position, the machine reads the mug position sensor incorrectly and refuses to brew. Toggle travel mug mode off via the mug position button on the front panel.
  3. Reset by unplugging for 5 full minutes. Unlike the K-Elite, the K-Mini has no internal battery backup — a full 5-minute unplug completely drains the control board capacitors and resets all firmware states including any stuck error conditions.

Needle Maintenance on the K-Mini

FAQ

The K-Mini brews only 4 oz even when set to 12 oz. What's causing this?

Short-fill on the K-Mini is almost always insufficient water in the reservoir at brew start. The K-Mini calculates available volume from the pressure transducer reading at the moment the brew button is pressed. If water was added just before pressing brew and the transducer hasn't settled (takes approximately 3–5 seconds), the machine starts with an incorrect low-volume reading and stops the pump early. Add water, wait 5 seconds, then press brew. If short-fill persists with adequate wait time, the pressure transducer membrane is scaled — run the extended citric acid soak procedure above.

Can I use a reusable K-Cup in the K-Mini?

Yes. The K-Mini accepts the same reusable K-Cup filters as other Keurig models (the My K-Cup Universal Reusable Filter).
